On one of our P-Days in March 2017 we took a trip to a light house.  These two pictures were on the way and this was a pretty Beach we passed.
This is not a working lighthouse anymore.  There are several care takers that live in a barracks like apartments that the British built.  It is called Cape Sierra Leone Light house.  (We looked it up on line and Wikipedia says it was built in 1849 by the English)  I'm guessing the care takers just took a guess on the date and someone painted 1812 on it and said the Portuguese built it.

A cool tree on the way walking back to our truck.  The next two pictures are pretty flowers we saw not far from the tree.

This little cutie is really growing fast.  Her name is Deborah after me and she was born in January.  She was all smiles this day and let me cuddle her.  March 2017
Her mom brought her over for me to see the other day.  Moona Conteh is her mom and she is really a nice Sister.  She and her husband Abduli do a lot for the mission.

Their children really are darling.  This sister came into the office the other day and her little girl just grinned at me.  She let me hold her and she didn't even cry.  Give her another few months and she will cry and run when she sees us.  This is in the office.

18 March 2017  Relief Society Celebration in Freetown. It was the 175th Anniversary of Relief Society.  All the Sisters in the Stake and in Kissy District and Kossoh Town Districts marched in the streets of Freetown.  Top is one of the bands they hired to march with us.
You can see the long line of sisters marching.   The sister on the left with the black plastic is Jeneba.  She is one of my good friends and works on Tuesday's in the Distribution Center in the office.
Each Branch and Ward had a banner like the ones you see here.  The picture below is some of my sweet sisters from Upgun Branch.

These two pictures were taken in the stadium where we marched to. Sister Clawson took the pictures and sent them to me.  If you look close in the picture above  you can see the Sister with the blue head dress holding a sign.  Just behind here is a white woman that is me.  Below, the Sister on the left in the beautiful blue dress was from the government, she was our guest speaker.   On the right the sister with the white hat is Sister George,  she is the District RS President for Kissy District.  Upgun is in  Kissy District.

Sunday 19 March, the sisters of Upgun.  It was so fun to dress like them this day.  I do love the clothes they wear here.
Another picture of the RS Sisters at Upgun.  This in in our RS room.  The picture below is the RS dinner.  The RS president is serving the rice from her cooler.  She prepared the meal for all the sisters.  It was rice and chicken.

Pictured above is all the members of Upgun who were there on Sunday 19 March.  The men all had matching ties.  You can see Brent and I in the back towards the left.
President Julius Rowe, our Branch President and Brother Emmanuel Kundunor, Me and Brent.  Bottom pictures is Brent and I with the missionaries in serving in our Branch.  Elder Oyewusi by me and Elder Badoo by Brent.  These are great missionaries.  Elder Badoo plays the keyboard and I am so grateful he can play.

15 March Elder Kenewah departing from Sierra Leone to serve in the Birmingham England Mission.  He is the first Missionary from Sierra Leone to serve in that mission.  Below is Elder Kenewah and Elder Saunders.  Elder Kenewah was a Branch missionary in Kenema and he served with Elder Saunders there.  They became really good friends.  Cute missionaries.

This is our pump house where our water pump is. You can see the doves all around the top on a metal pipe.  They are getting water and shade.  Below is a hooded vulture in the tree just outside our apartment.  Brent took this picture from our apartment.

On our walk Saturday 11 March 2017 we saw this bird fly past us into the tree.  It is a greet Parrot.  It was pretty cool to see one in real life in the wild.
We walk past this wall most days on our walk.  I have been wanting a picture and took it today.  We walked to our produce market today by Chorthrums and bought from our cute little lady.  I took her a copy of the pictures from last week and she was so pleased.  She was showing all the other shop owners on the street and calling me her friend.  The other ladies on the street thanked us for the picture.  I think they all felt pleased for her and it reflected on them.

We were almost home and saw these men building some little stores.  This is only about 50 feet from where we come into our compound.  I wonder what they will sell in these new shops.
Brent and his gardens.  The top picture is his pineapple garden.  He has planted all these pineapples from pineapples we have eaten.  This is how he waters his garden here.  The bottom is his regular garden.  The vines you can see are the red greek squash vines, the seeds we got from Jason.  There is not a squash on them, but the vines are beautiful.  There is some watermelon vines by Brent mixed in with the squash and Brent found 1 little watermelon today.  I hope it makes it.

Friday 10 March 2017 we went to the Women's meeting at Kissy for the District Conference.  This is the group of Primary Leaders.  These are amazing women and we talked about songs they knew and 4 of the sisters knew "A Child's Prayer"  We sang it and the spirit was so strong.  I was so proud of them for learning the song and teaching it to the Primary children in their Branch.  The church is growing.  The bottom picture after the conference and is by far one of the sweetest pictures I have taken here.  This little boy watched Brent as he was carrying materials out to the truck.  Brent asked him if he needed help finding his mom and he said yes.  He took Brent's hand and they walked to find his mom.  Brent and the little boy just sauntered and talked and I really felt the spirit.  I do love my eternal companion and my missionary companion. We both love the children.

Elder Peterson, the red head, made some muffins and brought them to share with Brent and I.  He said this was his first time making them and they were yummy.  Left to Right is Elder Amoah-Baafi, Elder Gamil, Elder Peterson, and Elder Ayabowei
Brent even took one, ate it and liked it.  He usually doesn't like muffins but liked the ones Elder Peterson made.  We love the young missionaries to come to the office.  They always make us smile.

Saturday 4 March 2017 we walked down town to our vegetable market.  We always try to buy from this vendor.  She is a little past Chorthrams and on the other side of the street and we are her "very good customers," as she calls us.  She agreed to have a "snap" with me last Saturday.  She is very proud of her shop and should be, her produce is very fresh and sweet.  She knows to let me pick my own and is very kind and patient with me.  She always gives me one extra.  The carrots and cabbage are very good right now.  In fact so are the tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.  It is nice to have such a good selection.  For Mindee, the cucumbers are good also, but we are a little tired of them.  We have been eating them almost everyday since we arrived.  They never seem to go out of season and are very good.
